Playing Golf in Hanoi
A practical guide for expats, visitors, and local golfers exploring golf in Hanoi and northern Vietnam.
Golf Courses Near Hanoi
Hanoi has a strong and growing golf scene. Kings Island Golf Resort (Đồng Mô, ~50km from centre) is the most established course in northern Vietnam, with 36 holes designed by Lee Trevino. Long Bien Golf Course is the closest 18-hole option to central Hanoi and popular for weekday rounds. Van Tri Golf Club (Sóc Sơn) offers a challenging course and is especially popular with weekend groups. Legend Hill Golf Resort is another option north of the city, known for its dramatic elevation changes.
Many of Linh's private coaching sessions and AimPoint on-course lessons are conducted at these venues. If you're planning a playing lesson, Linh can advise on the best course for your current game and goals.
When to Play in Hanoi
Hanoi's golf season peaks between October and March — cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and minimal rain make for ideal conditions. The summer months (June–August) bring heat and heavy rainfall; many golfers schedule early morning tee times to beat the afternoon heat and storms.
During summer, coaching sessions at Pure Performance Coaching Center are conducted in covered or indoor settings, making year-round development possible regardless of weather.
Golf for Expats in Hanoi
Hanoi has a vibrant expat golf community. Several clubs and groups organise weekly competitions, and the standard of play is high enough to be competitive for experienced golfers. Linh coaches in English and works with a large number of expat students — including diplomats, business professionals, and international school families based in Hanoi.
If you're new to Hanoi and looking to continue your golf development, reach out to book an introductory session. Linh can help you calibrate to local course conditions and get connected with the expat golf community.
Equipment and Club Fitting in Hanoi
Golf equipment availability in Hanoi has improved significantly. International brands — including PING, Titleist, Callaway, and TaylorMade — are stocked at major retailers. Import duties mean pricing is higher than in the US or Europe, but the range of options is solid.
For golfers arriving without equipment or considering an upgrade, Linh's PING Proving Grounds club fitting ensures any investment in new clubs is matched correctly to your swing data — rather than guessed from off-the-shelf specifications.
